About Sensei Moreno
Sensei Moreno, Chief Instructor of the American Aikikai Federation
President and Chief Instructor of Aikido USA
6th Dan, Aikikai
Sensei Moreno started studying Aikido in the 70's while living in Tokyo, as a full-time student at Hombu Dojo, Aikido World Headquarters.
Secondary styles of Aikido and Ki study have been created by many people and have grown in popularity, however the
original Aikido - as created and taught through the Ueshiba Family and the Aikikai Foundation - is taught at Aikido USA.
Aikido is a Budo (martial art) created by Morihei Ueshiba. After the Founder's passing in 1969, his son Kisshomaru Ueshiba was inaugurated as Aikido Doshu. At present, Moriteru Ueshiba, grandson of the Founder, has succeeded his father as Aikido Doshu. The Aikikai Foundation, officially recognized by the Japanese government in 1940, was founded in order to preserve and promote the ideals of the true Aikido created by the Founder. As the Aikido World Headquarters, it is the parent organization for the development and expansion of Aikido throughout the world.
What is Aikido?
Sensei Moreno was instructed under the personal tutelage of Ni-Dai Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba as well as the other Senseis within Hombu Dojo. Sensei trained at Hombu Dojo for several years, many hours a day. Sensei studied intensely under the direct teaching of the Founder's son and other great Shihan, until he attained a level of knowledge of Aikido that prepared him to teach a great many other people this one and only martial art.
In Mexico, Sensei Moreno helped Shihan Miguel Moreno in establishing the practice of Aikido. Besides teaching Aikido, Sensei helped out as a Technical Director of the Mexican Aikido Federation. After many years, Sensei started bringing his Aikido seminars throughout the world to many other countries.
Today, Sensei Moreno is a well-known guest at dojos around the world, teaching Aikido throughout Europe, North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
Sensei visits Japan at least twice a year where he maintains his training at Hombu Dojo, stays up to date with the latest information in the world of Aikido, and stays connected to the dojos, teachers and students from around the world, all practicing this great discipline.
Each year Sensei alongside the other great Senseis of Aikido in Japan, performs with his Ukes at the "All Japan Aikido Demonstration" (Nippon Aikido Enbu Dai Kai). This yearly event is presided by Doshu who also brings the event to a closure.
Since 2000, Sensei Moreno has been delivering seminars and teaching in the USA with the following primary goals:
To unite Aikidokas (those who practice Aikido) throughout the world, regardless of where or with whom they learned this beautiful discipline.
To spread Aikikai's Aikido (the original, "true Aikido") as pure as taught by Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba - within Japan, through Seminars and demonstrations anywhere in the world, wherever it is required.
1:51Today Sensei resides in the Dallas area (Texas, US) where he teaches Aikido daily from 6:30 AM until 8:00 PM at the Aikido USA home dojo in Plano, and develops new students and Aikido Senseis, continuing his goal of unifying Aikido and practicing our beautiful discipline, in as pure an honorable way as possible.
